Would not return purchase price

I recently purchased two items from Dollar General. I have my reciept in tow along with the items to make a return. The store told me they were now on sale a could not give me the purchase price even though I have the reciept showing how much I paid.
I talked with the manager and she said, "she was sorry but could not give me the full refund." I called the home office and talked to a representative after having held for 9 minute, then I was put on hold again for another 4 minutes. I gave him the information and he said one of the higher ups would have to take care of this and it will be between now and the 17th before my call would be returned. I called the afternoon of the 15th.
This has taken up much to much of my time and I am as angry as hell. I have been a faithful customer of Dollar General for more years than I can remember, the cashiers know me well. Unless the right thing is done and they return my full purchas price, I will never shop there again.
