Just part of the staff of the best TV station in the country. We the perfect mix of talented young people and old vets.

It was an honor to have been part of that team and as someone who did just about everything at WTOG - it was a fun ride and served me well to get me ready for a long career in broadcasting.

By the way from 1978-81

Jim Williams did the WTOG Morning News

Tom Keane was the 11:00AM WTOG News

Jane Johnston who was a long time KSTP personality did the 11:30AM.

Jane's show was a very popular- she had a number of top guests.

Doug Hoyt replaced me (Jim Williams) on the WTOG Monring News and also filled in for Tom when he did the Rowdies play by play.

I co hosted Jane's Show and did sports for the station and the pre-game show for the over 60 games we aired of the Cards, Phillies, Pirates, Mets, Red Sox, White Sox and Reds. The show was called " Baseball Fever" which was the MLB's tag line.

As for the rummor about Ted Turner using WTOG as the template for TBS that was partly true. He told me years after I left WTOG that he liked the way that the station was formatted - we did a 2 minute mini news break at the top of the hour from 1pm til 9pm every day taking the place of real nightly newscast.

As is reported on many sites we did do a 10pm news in the early 80's but only after being the first station in the country without a nightly newscast to produce and air our own edition of PM Magazine.

So it was a wonderful place to work and way ahead of its time.
