Yes! I used to visit as a child as my grandfather (Leonard Sutcliffe) worked there. I loved my visits and was mesmerised by the looms at work. I still have one of the boat shuttles...

My uncle (still living) also worked there, and my mother remembers it well, and some of the other members of staff.

How did you know about it?

This is spooky. I'm researching my wife's family tree (Bridget Hardy nee Sutcliffe) and was digging for Bradford links. I knew that her grandfather's brother Leonard Bradley Sutcliffe had worked at Kellett Woodman. Bridget is Norman's son Geoffrey's daughter. As Geoffrey, his wife Helen and Michael (Leonard and Norman's younger brother Walter Preston Surcliffe's son) have now all died, she's inquisitive to know who's grand daughter/son you are, Colin, Guy or Jennifer's? I am Jennifer's daughter :-)

I have one of Geoffrey's pictures which was given to me some years ago, although, having moved recently, it is still packed up along with most of our pictures.

My mother has left today to go to visit Uncle Jack's grave in France. But thinking about it, I think that Uncle Jack was a Billing. He was my Granny Sutcliffe's brother, so Leonard's brother-in-law.

We are in touch with Pat Sutcliffe, who I think is from Walter's side of the family? She is Michael Sutcliffe's widow - sadly he died just a year and a half ago, about two weeks after we last saw him for a very happy occasion.

Last year my son, Matt, found out that he had a cousin from your side of the family at his school - I think she was called Lucy or Louise? We found out just as we were in the throes of moving, so didn't manage to take it further, sadly. My mother lives nearby the school still though we are now in the Forest of Dean.

Is there a safe way of sending email addresses via this forum - I am new on it! I will try and see if I can find a way. Otherwise I will just post it here in a non-robot-friendly fashion! Mum has a lot of knowledge (and photos etc) of the family history on this side. I am sure she would be delighted to hear too.

Best wishes,

Deborah

I worked at Kellett Woodman next to Ring O Bell Pub Bolton Road Bradford from 1959 - 1963 after which I migrated to Australia. Fred Gladwin was manager at that time. I can see another 6 or faces but just can't put names to them. By any chance would anybody have a photo of Kellett Woodman Building. I was disappointed to find on a return to
Bradford in 2007 the building was no longer there. However I was able to enjoy a pint in my old pub the Ring O Bells which was special.

My name is Arthur Haigh. I worked at Kellett Woodman from 1959-1963 after which I migrated to Australia. I wonder when your uncle was at Kellett Woodman. Fred Gladwin was manager when I was working there. Do you know why and when Kellett Woodman ceased operation. I would be grateful for any information. I remember there were 2 shops between Kellett Woodman (one a barbers shop which was right next to Kellett Woodman) and the Ring O Bells Pub. I have many happy memories of time spent with mates at the Ring O Bells.
