This is because a lot of the people in Africa are poor. polygamy is allowed as a form of a helping hand to poor women who attend the church. If a man can afford to help three underpreviledged women in the church, why not? Same with the iphc, a man can marry upto 7 wives as long as he can provide for them, these two churchs, propagate polygamy withim the their structures as in to maintain and grow their membership. look at these church, both attract a lot of men who are keeping an eye on who to hit next.

Ok, allow me to say something, we have to agree to disagree. I am a member of the iphc, the 1962 breakaway faction from the ZCC. i have been a member and attending this church for over three years now. however, as an observant individual, i have noted that the congregants praise-sing or worship the bishop (referred to as moemedi or comforter in our church). in his teachings, he also emphasise how powerful he is to cure any illness, even hiv and aids. I must point out though that these congragants does die of HIV/AIDS related illnesses. I have four cases to proof this. congragants are encouraged to donate money in order to pay for the health and supposed wealth they will acquire for being associated with the church, and i must say, millions of rands are donated by poor people every month.
we are going to agree that there is no dialogue in church and whatever the preacherman say you swallow and you can't question as there is no question and answer session. i for one doesnt just swallow any information that comes my way, i interrogate and interrogate it. a lot of a lot of people who goes to this church went there because they were ill in the first place, which makes the church suitable to be classified in the category faith healing.
I went to this church to get spiritual revival as my ex-fiance recruited me. like in the ZCC, there are sick people in silo who work in the resturants without being paid a cent, all they get are meals. their living conditions is wanting and these people are even physically abused. it is a shame people are being abuse under the pretext of this mystic fantancy in the hope that they will one day knock at the gates of the so called heaven.
these structures need to be audited. 1st, the lekganyane brothers fought to become heir to the throne, then their cousin frederick modise split to form his iphc. after his death, his son glayton is heir to the throne. there are a lot of elders there who are more than capable of leading a big church, why is it (the throne) being treated as an inheritance?
it shows you blood is thicker than water. I understand though that desperate people are always blinded to see the flip side.
lts get back to polygamy, in this age, why do people have to have multiple partners, especially in africa where it is scientifically proven that hiv/aids has the major impact? i fail to understand why. yes i agree that the biblical solomon had more wives than king mswati, but if i may ask, is it relevant today?

Your understanding of African Churches and their evolution is very elementary indeed. The question of polygamy is not only confined to African churches, but to religions such as Islam and indeed Western churches.I challenge you to read the history of "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints", otherwise known as The Mormons and you will find that there is very little difference between them and the IPC of SA.
However that does not mean i condone polygamy, nor does it mean I suggest it is sinful. My view is that the modern man can do well without it. Our lives are more regulated than during the times of Jesus Christ - polygamy can only create many blurred areas and hardships.

Polygamy was not started by these two churches of GOD but from bible.hey, read the bible.eg DAVID . marrying more than 2 woman is optional.

Being a memeber of a church is not by choice, but a predestination. God have plans for all of us and he will always direct our steps. I am a new member of IPHC and I am happy.
