Why does the Staffs and Worcs Canal get so narrow for approx 1000 metres immediately North of the Marsh Lane (Pendeford,Wolverhampton) bridge? It then immediately widens considerably to twice the usual width before the M54 Motorway bridge. Any historical / geological reason?
