Why does Handel use recitative style singing instead of an aria for this text?

The lines referred to simply as "recitative" are accompanied by organ and cello. But note that there are two lines referred to as recitativo accompagnato ("accompanied recitative"). What happens in these lines in terms of instrumental accompaniment, and why does Handel choose these particular lines for special treatment?

In a recitative, the fundamental idea is to concentrate on getting the words of the narration over with a minimal use of music.
This piece was created for the stage (to be performed), subsequently inspiring him to use recitative style as opposed to aria. (The style is used to declaim/to tell the text in the rhythm of natural speech)
