Basically, Stanislavski indulged in smearing chocolate cake onto his face to get into character. Stan also was so familiar with the space on stage that he felt by scattering nails onto the stage area, he was able to familiarise himself completley and feel at one with the stage.

He also liked to look at his teeth.
