What standing in the World today would America have, had Britain agreed to give Germany (as Hitler had pleaded)a free hand in the East.
Keep in mind at that stage Britain was the most Powerful,Richest country in the world. Controlling a third of the Worlds land Mass.

Please expound on Hitler's plead to Britain on having a free hand in the east. I'm not familiar with this. Is this about Germany taking the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia in 1938 a year before hostilities with England; or the German invasion of Poland in September of 1939 of which England and France were allied with; or Germany's invasion of Russia in June of 1941 twenty-one months after England declared war on Germany?

As to "most powerful," look at France's military in May of 1940. It had the most powerful military in the world. Six weeks after May 10 the Nazis conquered it. Being the most powerful isn't reason enough to have one's way. It's how you use it in ways that don't reflect the last war but rather how innovative one can be in wielding such power. A smaller force such as Germany took four countries ⎯ France, England, Belgium and the Netherlands⎯with the innovated use of blitzkrieg (combined arms).

Britain was powerful only on paper. World War I, the Great Depression, and pacifism worked against England from being able to enforce its will. This paper tiger's massive empire was ripe for a fall. Germany kicked it out France, and Greece. The Japanese took Hong Kong and Singapore. They lost all of their possessions in the Far East except for India and Australia which were being sorely tested as to wether they could hold out. England was on its knees. Without the entry of the United States the German submarine fleet would have certainly strangled this island nation.

I have read your fragmented and jaundice view of Britain and Americas involvement in WW2,although Americas involvement was for 3 years, where Britain was involved for almost 6 years.
I shall reply to your comments in detail at a later stage. In the meantime would you answer the question as shown.
Incidentally for your personal records, England were not defeated in WW2.

If you read Mein Kampf you will read the references Hitler made regarding Britain,Germany and Italy as allies to defeating Bolshevism. In turn this would lead Germany to expand their territory which Hitler referred to as Lebensraum "living-space".
Ribbentrop, Hitlers foreign minister, tried many times to influence the British government through well connected families, for Britain to join the Anglo-German agreement for anti-comintern. Hitler repeatedly mentions the British as Germany's Aryan Brothers.
Hitler wanted a free hand in Europe and assured Britain there would be no interference from Germany regarding the British Empire.
Britain's power lay in her wealth,Empire and the Royal Navy.
Germany conquering France,by Blitzrieg "Lightning Warfare",where planes led the attack, followed by tanks and then infantry, was a revolution in warfare tactics.
Germany by any stretch of the imagination was not a small country in population,or area. Compared to the rest of western Europe.Germany's population in 1939 was 80 million, France 40 million, Britain 47 Million. In area Germany was the second largest in western Europe, France being the Largest.
All the countries that Germany conquered had less than half her population. The countries that Germany conquered. France,Holland,Belgium,Norway,Denmark,Czechoslovakia. Austria? And the channel islands.
This "paper tiger" which had the largest Empire the world has ever seen, and held and controlled the Empire for over two hundred years, not including the Americans colonies.
This paper tiger explored, and mapped the world, gave most of the world a common language,a parliament system that the majority of the world follow today.
The turning point in WW2 was I feel Britain's breaking of the enigma codes. From 1941 Britain read all Germany's military codes, for all services Army, navy Airforce. They also fed misinformation to the Germans from captured spies, which led the Germans to believe Britain was a lot stronger in manpower and armaments than she actually was.Americas entry into the war, although two years behind the British, brought about three major developments.Firstly Britain had to pay up front for all war material, and when the Gold ran out, it was lend lease.Secondly,Britain had to agree after the war to open her colonies to America previously denied to her.Thirdly America through the war, took over the mantle as the new world power.

Japan would not have attacked pearl harbour.Britain would have supplied Japan with raw materials, which she desperately needed.
There would have been no Russian or Chinese threat to the World. America would have remained isolationists. The world would have been divided into three areas. Europe,Far East, and the Empire as was.
The question then would have been, which country control's America.? Or would America and south America have been divided into three separate areas?

My apologies for not having responded to your discussion. I find it difficult and against my nature to engage with someone who from the start considers my comments "fragmented and jaundice," and "misinformed." It appears that you have some strong views that must prevail regardless of the conventions of a discussion.

I am most sorry that you feel that way. Please bear in mind we are not only dealing in words here,we are also dealing in facts, and information. The fragmented and jaundice comment was based on your reply to my original question. If you go over your reply again you can clearly see it had no bearing on the question.
In addition you had several things completely wrong, which I pointed out in my reply.
Would you agree with my assumption:RE:Germany, Japan and the Empire? Or have you other thoughts.

Never feel the need to apologize for someone else's lack of knowledge. History is clearly not Michael's strong point.

If you are interested still, I will be more than happy to have this discussion with you. European history is my specialty. :)
