Antifeminists often criticize single mothers by saying that children who come from fatherless homes are ill-adjusted and less successful academically and professionally. Antifeminist critics such as Michael Flood argues that mental and emotional problems in children of single mothers could be due to problems such as violence or poverty which led to the divorce, rather than the lack of a father's presence alone.
