To be honest, he really did not accomplish anything of note. His madness beginning at the age of about 19 left both the king himself as well his wife and his children caught in the middle of the Burgundy/Orleans rivalry. The rumoured behaviour of Queen Isabeau undoubtedly added to his madness. Despite what Shakespeare has written, the Dauphin Louis was a great support to his father and well may have brought some order to the kingdom but his early death ended even that faint hope. It wasn't until Charles, later Charles VII, finally got his own affairs in order, much with the support of Joan of Arc, that the Hundred Years War was brought to a close.
