Was the han dynasty the dynasty that you think of when you think of the chinese militia? I am doing a report on the chinese armies and their fighting styles? I know that they invented sanda and used kali. How often did they use shoalin or kung fu? Did they have formations they followed with this or no? And also how did the fighting styles change from time to time?

Yes because this dynasty had this most significance in all the dynastys between the government struggle, and the military power. the fighting did benifit for there martial arts by the fact that they used formations to which these skills would benefit, and overall ruin strongholds and armies of any size
