Was my great-great-great-great-grandfather John Wilkerson Myers Sr. 1775-1829 born in Greenup (county and/or city).
For some reason unknown to me most references to his birth in Greenup are shown in the following way :Pennsylvania, Greenup, Kentucky, United States
I'm sure you see why I am confused.
Was this area part of Pennsylvania in 1775?
Or did someone get it wrong in the first place and 110 other geno-family researchers just copy incorrect info?
John was the son of Abraham Kaufman (Meyer) Myers 1758?-1836 and Sarah Ann Wilkinson Myers 1761-1805.
John was killed in an Indian conflict in the Chariton River area of Howard Co., Missouri on 17 July 1829, started by his son James Myers 1803-1860.
His 1st wife was Ann (or Sarah Ann) Miller 1780-1815 married in Hardin Co. Kentucky 19 December 1801.
His 2nd wife was Mary "Polly" Basset 1785-1836 married in Clinton Co., Missouri on 30 December 1818.
