I was on the Vamps from late 72 till middle 76, she was involved in two collisions whilst I served on her. One with RFA Tidesprings 6th June , 1974 during a night RAS and then whilst along side in Subic Bay november or December 1975 when the USS Schenectady rammed us when she was leaving harbour... She also suffered major fires, especially in B Boiler room when we were off Darwin in middle 1975.. Sad as she was an excellent ship and those who served on her were of the same material.
