Hello,
My name is Warren Brown. I am an inner-city school teacher (2nd grade) Father, Grandfather.
Last summer, I was at a yard-sale. I didn't see anything I wanted but I did see a rather large rock half buried in the dirt surrounded by weeds. Since I have a rock garden out back by my swimming pool, I said to the attendant, "I wish you would sell me that rock." She did...she asked $12.00 and I gave her $15.00.
I had to have help getting it out of the ground and into my trunk as it weighs over 250 pounds. I took it straight home and we lugged it out to the rock garden. I washed it off with a hose and swimming pool brush. I was reeling in the hose,(about 20 feet away) when, for the very first time, I turned to admire my new rock. I was overwhelmed..still am..
I thought I had bought an old, old, weathered statue of Mother Mary holding Baby Jesus...It seemed surreal to me and I contacted the Museum Of Art. They sent a curator out who imformed me that it had never been carved by man. At this point, I got on-line and looked up natural images of Mother Mary and Baby Jesus. I saw many similar types of examples and believe me, nothing compared. One day at school, I said to a fellow teacher, "I don't know why I had to be the one who found this rock." She said, "Warren, you didn't find this rock, it found you." I have adopted that theory no matter how strange it seems.
I am not a religious person...I am a spiritual person who believes in God yes...but I don't believe in organized religion for myself..
I believe that not until I was well into my 40s did I feel compelled to "thank God " and realize that I was indeed "blessed" by the hand of God in many ways despite many obstacles in my chilhood that were present. I certianlly wasn't looking for a rock with the images on it that I found that day..
Most people I have shared it with have been very supp-ortive and kind. Some have taken it upon themselves to harshly judge my character for what ever reason but is usually that they don't see the images that I confess to see. Most do.. I am not going to appologize for seeing these images and I feel that this rock is an incredible "natural" art form. My daughter decided to make a you-tube presentation (2 min. long) of this rock called theincrediblerock (no spaces). She did put a religious twist on the presentation and I may sometime create a new presentation displaying it as a natural art form instead..I don't know..
If you would go to you-tube and type in theincrediblerock you will see this rock. I have since, seen other images on the rock that are very compelling but I won't go into that.
I simply feel compelled to share this rock and my story. I feel that it is transition and needs to be someplace special where others can enjoy it too...To see it in person and feel its energy and see its beauty is awesome. I find it to be one of the most beautiful "natural" art forms that I have ever seen. I continue to seek advice on this matter and hope that someday I will indeed find this rock a suitable home so others can enjoy it as well. It really deserves recognition and discussion.. Sincerely, Warren Brown
