Hello Brother Farooq bu AbdallahFoum...we are pulling each other together thank GOD. I wrote to a brother of whom I heard they may have information like a family tree that we can trace us. I am still awaiting to hear from him. Here is the email I sent out:-
Asalaam aleikum brother Shakur,
How are you and family. I don't think you know me, but; we may have met before here in Philadelphia at Da Husena's (Alwiya's) home.
My name is Dinnah Walton aka Dinnah Moh'd Saleh Mbafoum. A relative named Salha Bazi recommended that I find you or your brother will know
of my father's family. Actually, my whole family, because both my mother and father were related as my mother came from wa Msafoum and my father was Mbafoum. It is said that you or your brother may have copies of family tree on Mbafoum/Msafoum since they were a people of a royal status and that their historical sultanates based on the five cities have been collectively proposed as a UNESO world heritage site.
..I suppose you may have access to information of that kind or may be able to attain it. (bEAR WITH ME HERE) I really would appreciate your help for the sake of my children of whom are both born as Americans and must know their heritage in order to be able to differentiate themselves and know they have culture, tradition, status and can stand up for whom they are.
I would like to create a family tree on line where by each of us collectively can fill in the gapes to complete a family tree that is of so importance not only to me but for all of our children. Especially to my children who are of American descendant and of course Comorian descedant; but, have no idea of how proud they must be of their descent. You see, today my kids as Americans are caught up in a fight for black reparations of African descent because of fatal sufferings during slavery time, of slave trade, slavery, and colonialism. My kids not only have the right to fight for reparations for that, but also for the killings and the suffering of families who were of royal status and lost all of what, and who they are due to mass killing of slave trade and colonialism.
In that process we lost each other and we don't know what or how to explain it to our children; hence, I come to you brother Shakur for help. I wish to know more of my family who came from Mitsamihuli and Wela all the way out to Ikoni. The people I have heard mentioned in my family and some that I have met are
Shaaban Saleh Mbafoum, Bi Rukia wa Mbafoum, bi Mhaza etc....
I, and other relatives who have joined me in search of our ancestors have been meeting on discussion at this site http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics/Sultans_on_the_Comoros . You may find people here that you may know and interest you and see that we all may contribute to our family. But even with that, we are left in dark; if only we have a family tree that would tie the rest of us together again so we can stand for our own REPARATION ..of it's own kind..BY RIGHT! and at the same time We CAN STRENGHTHEN OUR FAMILY FOR THE FUTURE OF OUR GENERATION. WE ARE LOST.....NOT COMPLETELY BUT WE CAN PUT US TOGETHER.......
I thank you borther Shakur for your assistance.
Wasalaam
