Dean Ornish, MD reversed heart disease with (among other things) a low-fat mainly vegan diet. John McDougall, MD has worked for many years with those interested in a low-fat mainly vegan diet. T. Colin Campbell published 'The China Study' documenting the rarity of 'western' excess illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease & cancer, in rural Chinese living on a diet mainly of whole grains and vegetables with small amounts of animal protein/products. There are surely other doctors & nutritionists who have come to similar conclusions, but the significance of being able to prevent 'western' diseases is not sufficiently discussed in U.S., Canada and Europe. I find it odd that the interest is so minimal.
