In 2008, I founded the Underground Desert Living Research Institute, an online information resource and campaign to raise awareness about desertification. I am currently developing the design of the renewable energy-powered Underground Desert Living Unit (UDLU), a modular, carbon neutral “off-the-grid” dwelling as a possible adaptive and sustainable solution for future eco-refugees affected by habitat loss arising from the disappearance of fertile land and the growth of deserts due to climate change.
