Stem cell banking from the umbilical cord blood and cord tissue has indeed picked up in India.

I recently saw a news segment where a stem cell bank LifeCell International banked the stem cells of a baby and using these stem cells, the baby's sister was cured of thalassemia.

It is an amazing technology and congrats to LifeCell and all others involved in treating the girl.
