We find Thundy's speculation concerning a connection between "Theravada" and "Therapeutae" all over the internet. What we do not find is any good reason why there should be such a connection. Therapeut and related words, including "therapon" are part of the Greek language today. Why the word should continue if it referred to some Alexandrian Buddhists is a question that seems unasked. Other good questions: why are these Buddhists such rigorous keepers of the Jewish Sabbath? Does "therapeutae" or related words occur in Greek literature before the birth of Siddartha Gautama?
