The Varroa destructor mite versus sea air

Hi all,
Forgive my ignorance as I may have already posted this,(I am new): Earlier this week I found a dead Bumble bee (due to Varroa infestation) along my road (Merseyside). I live about a mile from the sea shore. However over the last few months I have noticed at least fifty Bumble bees along the shore (on Sea Holly) and non of these have shown any mites. Is this just luck or could the direct sea air have any influence?
Stuart.
