The M1 garand is a 30 cal. weapon. My question is it harmful to shoot regular commercial ammo out of it ?

I am pretty sure it is because one of my uncles has one and uses hornady rounds

If commercial .30 cal rounds are used, make sure they are either high grade rounds (will say on the box) or buy some .30 cal Garand rounds from an Army Surplus store. They're bound to have some for a lower price than maybe at any normal store...
