The County Sheriff for Co. Kerry, in Ireland seems to be Donal Kelliher at Castleisland. The appointment was, before the revolution, made by the king and the High Sheriff was the Peace Keeper for the County. Since 1922 the Office has been abolished.
Is the County Sheriff now just a tax collector for the Revenue?
Does he have any legal powers of old like having citizens bound over to keep the peace? Can he sit as a Magistrate or Judge in the District Court?
