Sodium Silicate is used in the ceramic/glass industry to lower the melting temperature of the ceramic/glass batch. What does the addition of the sodium silicate do to the thermal properties of the glass/ceramic? I'm specifically interested in refractory ceramic fiber at use temperatures over 2000 degrees F.
