Nicotine being a vascular constrictor is a treatment for cluster headaches. The reason so many sufferers smoke is that they are self treating.

I have personally aborted an attack by chain smoking, but that is very hard to do during an attack. Most sufferers cannot smoke during an attack.

There are many sufferers that never smoked in their life. Most that I know have much worse CH than I do.
