All the articles I have seen about the Six's maximum minimum thermometer describe an instrument filled with mercury and alcohol. I had one like that years ago, but when I bought a new one it had no mercury. The temperature marking substance is clear and dyed light blue. I have other straight thermometers that use alcohol to record the temperature, but what is the other substance in this new type of Six's?
