It is my understanding that earthquakes on the San Andreas fault are horizontal and the movement of the earth is only on the western side of the fault and that the eastern side remains in a stable position. No psnuamis are formed on this fault as there is no vertical shift on the fault so no water is displaced where the fault is under water. Am I correct in what I have written? The movement of the western side of the fault is to the north.
