I did some research on south american history in the Simancas Archives in spain.
In addition to south american material there are the actual reports sent to King of spain in the 1500's and 1600's.
The reports and letters are written on very delicate rice paper. Much of the materil is from the Manila.
The head librarian said that very few researchers have come to examine the thounds of pages of material. It woulf be great if someone who can read spanish handwriting and is interesting in the history of the pacific islands could to to spain.
