I have just come across your website and as ghost writer for Ruth's sister's book called RUTH ELLIS MY SISTER'S SECRET LIFE, believe I have some accurately sourced details about the last woman to be hanged in the UK.

My initial comment today is about your opening section of the 'Biography'section.

Ruth Ellis was not one of six children, she was one of five.

As an extra snippet (in a police document now available to be read by the public at The National Archives in Kew) when Ruth Ellis was arrested after the shooting of David Blakely, she told the police officers at Hampstead police station that she was one of three children.

In the same document she told the police that the father of her child Andre was an airman and died during the Second World War. This was also not true. He was a soldier and still alive.

I think a more useful question would be 'Why did this woman lie?'

The four-part serialisation of Ruth Ellis's so-called life story published in the Woman's Sunday Mirror just prior to and after the hanging, written allegedly by a journalist who visited Ruth Ellis in the condemned cell (a practice which was never allowed)is in my opinion responsible for the myth that has been conveniently created about Ruth Ellis over the last 50 years.

You only have to look into one aspect, the family history, as it was portrayed in the articles to realise that a false story was being concocted on her behalf. Why?

And to the second part of your comment, no, they didn't hang the right person.

...Ruth Ellis was a product of her time.. and I have NO TIME FOR YOU!!!
She is buried firmly in Amersham Churchyard now.. at peace!.. she has paid her debt.. let her lay (not lie) in harmony with the earth she deserves.
