The actual date of the QB-47E crash landing at Eglin AFB, Florida was Monday afternoon, 19 August 1963, not the 20th. The drone normally would have landed at Duke Field (Auxiliary Field 3), fifteen miles to the north, but a build-up of thunder clouds over that location caused a diversion. The B-47 was operated by the 3205th Drone Squadron, a long-time tenant unit at the Air Proving Ground Center, Eglin. I checked this date against a local newspaper account on microfilm in the Fort Walton Beach Public Library (Playground Daily News, Tuesday, 20 August 1963, Vol. 16, No. 271, page 1.)
