The three mythological fires in Chartres Cathedral were in years 1020, 1134 and 1194 or should I say 174 years, which the numbers 1, 7 and 4 are the Cardinal Signs of Astrology and the three digits Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) used to create sum-digit chapters/cantos in his La Divina Commedia mathematical system.

Entering Chartres Cathedral by the Royal Portal in the year 1194 is to mystically burn the Romanesque cathedral down to the ground leaving only the West Facade remaining. As you walk down the nave the left and right walls are rising from the ground into the style of the Gothic Architect, which symbolizes the Resurrection of Christ. Two transepts converge on the Crossing before the altar.

The fires of Chartres Cathedral represent the WALL OF FLAMES that Dante Alighieri talks about in the 27th chapter of Purgatorio just before Virgil and him enter into the Garden of Eden.

The transepts symbolizes the transubstantiation of the bread and the wine into the body and blood of Christ: i.e. the Eucharist. The North Transept's Rose Window speaks of the New Testament and the South Transept's Rose Window speak of the Old Testament: i.e. the bread and the wine, which is a deliberate inference to the first temptation of Christ. "Man shalt not live by bread alone but by every word out of the MOUTH OF GOD".

The CROSSING is that square block in the center of the two transepts that crosses the nave that represent the arch of the masons, which bridges the old (Boaz - Sun) and the new (Jachin - Moon) testaments. This is why Christ is portrayed in the Vesica Piscis on the West Facade. The Vesica Piscis symbolizes the merging of the spiritual and the material.

The two transepts converging on the CROSSING is the mystical alchemical marriage of the masculine (sun) and the feminine (moon).

This is similarly, using different symbols, worked out in the Sistine Chapel with the 28-popes (original 32-popes) where the South side had the odd numbered popes and the North side had the even number popes. The South side has the frescoes depicting the LIFE OF MOSES and the North Side has the frescoes depicting the LIFE OF CHRIST. The odd and even numbers symbolize the masculine and feminine respectively. In ancient times the Males and Females in the congregation had to sit in the pews on the opposite side of the nave from of each other.

It should be mentioned that Chartres Cathedral was complete in 1836, which is another mystical years with a BACK-STORY to the birth of Christ; however, from 1020 to 1836 is 816 years and the number 816 is the transposition of the short formula for the Divine Proportion 0.618, which is the dynamic forces of DNA molecule and the foundation of Creatio Continua. In 1836 the metal roof was completed on Chartres Cathedral. The years 1020 symbolizes Christ crowned KING OF KINGS.
