Perhaps the best authority on German aviation in WWI was the late Peter Grosz. Peter had access to Weyhl's documents on his book and there are correspondence in hte files where Weyhl is trying to get Platz to agree to Weyhl's assertions that Platz was the designer. In US Courts, this is called 'leading the witness' and this is not allowed into the evidence. Weyhl had a grudge against Fokker and wrote the book to diminish Fokker. See Over the Front Autumn 1990.

Platz's title was 'Werkmeister', he was a shop forman in charge of welding. The design work at Fokker was done by a team of engineers.
