Dear Friend,
Greetings.
This is what happened to me before I sought help from the police over the weekend (Saturday, 30th July, 2011 – 2030hrs)
I drove home on this day at around 2030hrs. My wife alighted from the car outside the gate and opened it for me to drive in.
I did drive in and parked the car at the usual space, switched it off, retracted the side-mirrors and sat in the car with the driver’s door open, waiting for my wife to come from opening the gate
As she stepped outside to hook a lock at the gate from the outside due to the height of the lock, I heard a male’s voice speak to her and assumed it was my neighbour. I didn’t suspect anything and sat patiently waiting for her to complete the process of closing the gate. It had been a long day as we had earlier experienced a tyre-burst and car breakdown.
Suddenly I saw a man walking towards the car and thought it was the same neighbour I had thought was talking to my wife at the gate. The man came to me and on a closer look, I realized he was a stranger. He was smartly dressed with a tie and a zipped jacket. He came to me and made a statement that, “when you see a man in a tie, know he has gone to work,… and when you see him with this…” at this point he flushed out a pistol and ordered me to surrender everything I had in the car. I at this point realized we were being robbed and told him to take whatever pleased him to. At this point, another man came holding my wife and ordered us not to look up. He then ordered us to lie down on our bellies as they ransacked the car, making away with whatever valuable they could lay their hands on, including an official phone and three other phones that we had in the car. During this process that took at least 5 minutes, the robbers kept demanding that I give them my ‘gun’ and laptop severally, as I denied having the same each time they asked.
After ransacking the car, they ordered me to open the car trunk, checked whether it had any valuables then ordered us to get into the trunk then locked it. They then made away with all that they had collected with the car and house keys as well.
I went to the landlady, knocked on her door severally but she didn’t open.
I then went upstairs to my neighbours and narrated to them what had taken place.
I then went back to my landlady’s house and at this point dogs that guard the compound came barking – this left me wondering where they had been.
I narrated to her what had happened and reported the incident to Kinoo Police post the following day ( Sunday 31st August, 2011) in the morning.
Kind regards,
