I, personally, disagree with Devant's definition of normal art in magic. He declined to mention the magician who uses other magicians effects but adds their own personal tweak or spice, perhaps changing the mechanics of the trick, the concept, or the patter. Not that I don't love Devant's work. I would like to hear other fans' and magicians' opinions on this topic.

I would think that no matter what the profession or art, the practitioner would bring his own twist to it.

Not if you are (as Devant put it) Mr. Copyist, inwhich case you would memorize the patter, mechanics, and even gestures used by Mr. Artist.
