If u liv on a 2nd floor or higher with a covered or partly covered deck or porch as i do i have found after constant messy clean-ups from birdfeeders that i just leave a 50 lb bag of songbird seeds completely open [where rain will not fall] and roll the top a little all around so the birds can land and jump in and they r all doing fine and leave 90% of the seed shells in the bag----
