There is a new historical fiction novel titled: "Cornerstone ... A Story of Peter Francisco and American Independence" due out within the next month. It opens with Peter being found on the wharf at City Point and follows his historic career from the colonial protests through the British surrender at Yorktown. It is to be available on Amazon and on my author's website:

This has been a 44 year long dream of mine from when I first heard about Peter at a family reunion when I was 16 in 1966. My grandmother was a Francisco and for decades we claimed Peter as an ancestor. When I started "Cornerstone" I added genealogical research to all the historical research and trips to Virginia I did. Devoting fulltime to my writing and research starting in 2010, I learned I am not a descendant of Peter at all. That did not quell my interest in helping Peter Francisco attain his rightfully earned role in American History.

Researching Peter has been no easy task. Much of what is considered "fact" about Peter is no more than family lore, depending on what later descendants or wannabe descendants wanted Peter to be. There are many area where the lore conflicts with other accepted lore.

Historicaly it is true he was found on the wharf, raised by an uncle of Patrick Henry and served in the Revoluition with Washington giving him a custom-made larger than normal sword to fit his stature. Washington called Peter his "one-man army" for his heroic service in the battles between 1776 & 1781,. He was wounded three times and left for dead at Guiilford Courthouse. His story is extraordinary and exciting.
