My uncle was one of less than 200 that received the Merchant Marine Distinguished Service Medal. Upon his death, the actual award could not be located in his personal items at the retirement home. We fear the medal was stolen or possibly just lost. I am his nephew, and I would like to obtain a replacement or replica in his honor for a framed picture, citation and "medal". Does anyone know where or how to obtain a replica or replacement? I have tried multiple websites, but this aprticuliar medal is rare.
