My name is patrick paynter & i have a question that i have not been able to find an answer for & i was hoping that you could help me find one. my paternal grandfather told me years ago that the ham fisher comic strip character knobby walsh, the manager of joe palooka was named after himself. his name was norbert paynter, & he went by the nickname "nobby." i found that ham fisher was from wilkes barre, & my grandfather played professional baseball there in the late 1920s. my father was born there in 1927 during the baseball season. it adds up sort of. if you cannot find out, any suggestions as to where i may learn where ham fisher got the name for the character knobby walsh would be appreciated. as you can imagine it would be pretty cool if it's true. thank you, patrick
