Weston-super-Mare

My maiden family name is Longmore. For as long as I can remember, we were told that it was a Scottish name, associated with Dufftown and Aberdeen.
Some of our relatives went to Scotland to see the Laird,in the 1970s, only to be told that we are actually related to the English branch of the family. The whole situation seemed to end there until about 18 months ago when I discovered there may be a link with Weston super Mare and that the name is possibly Roman. This did not surprise me, because I am married to an Italian and whenever I go to Italy I use my maiden name. Nobody has any trouble with it either from the point of view of acceptance or pronounciation.
Is there anyone who may be able to assist in this enquiry? I would be very appreciative for any information that may be passed on.
