My greatdrandfather's last name was either Ostrem or Oostrem.
My question is: does this name have any meaning in Dutch?
I am looking for this man's roots.
His family had a dairy farm not far from Amsterdam. I calculated his year of birth as ca.1840.
He later left Netherlands for Poland, where his last name became Ostremskij (-"skij" is the added Polish ending).
I will appreciate it if somebody could through light on my quest.
