Ferlin Husky was my (and my father's, may he rest in peace) favourite singer; some of the more familiar songs my father and I enjoyed listening to were "Gone"; "Wings Of A Dove"; and the little known flipside, "Next to Jimmy"; and my personal favourite, "True True Lovin'", the epitome of a country song. I wasn't aware that he passed away until tonight. You see, just a few months ago (before his death on March 17th 2011) I was reading about him on Google. Tonight's update, however, sent shivers up my spine. It seems that some of the best (and better!) U.S. country singers pass away (and how come here in Australia, there has been no announcement on the news of his passing?) Indeed a sad, sad loss. I am planning to record a couple of albums (with me whistling), to be released on an independent label, in the near future, and I will feature his two songs on my albums, "Gone" and "True True Lovin'" as my tribute to him.
