My father, 1st Lt. Robert W. Crosley, died in an aircraft accident in the Langley air traffic pattern on April 28, 1952. We received an empty coffin and were told only that his ship blew up over the bay area. Is there anyone who remembers him, the accident, or perhaps can refer me so that we can obtain more detailed information about his death? I have been trying to find out what actually occurred for most of my adult life. I was nine when he died. I am now 67 years old, and could use some help with my search. Probably a member of the 4430 Ftr Bomber wing. We had transferred from Dow AFB in Maine less than a year prior, and were scheduled to go to Ipswitch, England at the time he was killed. Thanks for your attention in this matter.
