My dad served in the Persian Gulf Command in WWII. He is now deceased and I am looking for information/articles regarding the "City of the Blind" in Dizful, Iran which he and a small group of G.I's visited. Lost newspaper article that discussed it as being the hottest recorded air temperature on earth at 182 degrees. He and others that were there confirmed such a place/temp existed and that people lived underground and only came out at night. Everyone was blind, not because they were born that way or necessarily because of the heat, but that the flies crawled all over their eyes and laid eggs. He never knew why or how such a city existed. Does anyone have information/pictures on this? It means a lot to me. thanks.
