My Father was part of the 417th inf regiment (76th) (American) Division. He told me that he participated in a Battle (skirmish) on 3/30/1945 at the town of Schmitten. Can someone verify that? Also, he told me there was bridge there as well. Is there a stream/river that runs in or near Schmitten.

Thanks for any information

Were you able to find out any information? My family was actually from Schmitten Taunus during this time. I have heard stories about the US troops coming in. My familys home was taken over by the Allies as an officer quarters. My grandparents and my mother had to live in the factory my Grandfather owned. I would love to find out the history of that era. It would be cool to find someone that might have actually been in my families home. The last name was Schmidt.

Thanks for your help
