Movement of Sirius

It is my understanding that Sirius has significant movement across the star-background, enough so that precession doesn't seem to affect its positioning. Virtually every other star is fixed and appears to move only relative to the precession of the equinoxes which is an Earth-local phenomena.

MY QUESTION: How much has Sirius moved over the last few thousand years as indicated by historical records? I can't find those records on the Internet. Any help on this would be appreciated. Dave
