Lost folksong performed with acustic guitar accompagnment.

In the the latter part of the 1970'es. I had a tape with a song about the North American Indians and how bad their fotune became.

It started with something like: "Columbus set sail..." and "... in 1492".
I'm almost certain that the song was performed by Richard Digance.
I can't find anything like it on the Internet though.
If anyone has a clue plese inform me!
