There was a Tamerton Street in Camberwell. It was formerly called Cambridge Street. The name change took place about 1938.

It ran at right angles to Farmers Road and parallel to Wyndham Road. Tamerton Street and Warrior Road and another road whose name I cannot remember were demolished to allow the building of a school.

I do not remember the rag and bone yard but you may well be right.

I lived in Tamerton Street, and I remember Dentons, where all the rag and bone men used to take their rags, we used to go in to Dentons to torment the worker, who would chase us out, doe anyone remember Harry Bennett's sweet shop around the corner next door to Deans, and also Franks the off licence, and the bakers at the corner of Grovsnor Terrace, I lived their until it was demolished and I went to John Ruskin Primary School and St Michaels & all Angels C of E Secondary School in Wyndham Road. I moved in 1966.

Hi Beveley, I used to play with you when we were kids I remember you brother and your sister Maureen, I remember your mum and dad, I remember you were the first kid in the street to get a Sindy doll, we were all so jealous, but your dad made you share your toys with the other kids. Your dad was so nice. I remember your sister Maureen asked my mum to knit her a winter coat, I can still remember it, brown and mum lined it with orange silk very nice. Hope you are well, We were talking about your family at the funeral of our brother in law last year, my sister Vera and my brother in law Joe used to live in Carsalton, their surname is Langbridge, I am sure they lived near some of your family, do you remember that poor girl around the corner from you Sandra, everyone called her Grogler bonce because they said she was lousy. Hope you are all well, my email is lynnsargeant123@btinternet.com. Lovely to know you are well Lynn x
