Caterpillar

Long ago & far away, I was a geology major in college. Never worked in it as a career, but still interested. As a kid I was fascinated by trilobites (among other fossils).

A few years ago I was getting in my car to go to work & spotted a caterpillar on my forsythia bush that bore a strong resemblance to a trilobite. It was about 1.75 to 2 inches long & maybe 1 inch wide, flattened dorso-ventrally, & the body appeared to be divided in 3 lengthwise. The central section was wider than the 2 side sections. It had the usual transverse segments - I couldn't say how many now. And it was a quite bright yellow. I live in central Tennessee.

Has anyone seen anything like this?
