Mr. Andsnes is the greatest living pianist. All others sound like students compared to him, good students, but students. There is not one thrown-away note. Each piece is thoroughly analyzed by his incredible musical intellect and played through his heart with the highest technique humankind is capable of. Liszt would love him! Haydn would love him! Rachminoff would love him, and most of all, Brahms would love him. I had mixed feelings about Brahms until I heard Mr. Andsnes play him. Now I hear Brahms's compositions as love letters to Clara.
