When my step-grandfather, Linwood Dunn passed away, I was devastated. However, over time I came to accept his passing. Many people do not know how he was as a family man. I want to add this to his part of history.
My grandmother who passed away four years ago married her husband Linwood Dunn when I was in Middle School.
When I first met him, he took me in under his wing as his own granddaughter. He always knew how to make me laugh and feel better about myself. My grandmother had been the happiest I had ever seen. She was glowing and so happy. Linwood made her very happy and would always tell her how beautiful she was and smart and talented.
Both had very great talents. My grandmother was a professional ballet dancer in her younger years and became a dance teacher later on in life. My step-grandfather started a new world with movies. He started special effects. The two were the perfect couple and I admired them every day, hour and second that passed.
Linwood Dunn was a big kid at heart. He would sometimes take a bath in the pool in the back yard. He would bring his bar of soap and have a grand time. Linwood Dunn always saw the best in every person no matter how low they felt about themselves.
I remember he took me to Universal Studios as a young teenager with a group from Japan in regards to movies. He let me be the interpreter of the group. I was so proud of my shining moment. That evening the group from Japan took us out for Sushi. Another shining moment for me, I had my first sushi and loved it.
Another time he made me feel great was when I watched my first United States Pageant on television. He looked over at me and said I would become the next Miss US when I was older and said I was going to bloom into a beautiful flower. Of course I never did try out for the pageant. But I remember how great I felt about myself.
There are many more stories I will add to this thread. This is just a small tidbit of it.
