Is john carter a really good jazz player

John Carter was an exceptional jazz player(Bebop Alto Sax) in his early days here in Fort Worth, Tx. I was one of his music student from the early 50s where he taught public school as a band director until he moved to Calif(1961). His alto playing was similar to Bird and Sonny Stitt. His favorite sax player was Sonny Stitt and it could be heard in his playing. Its very unfortunate but there was no demand for these good black jazz musicians here in Fort Worth/Dallas Tx. When he moved west he changed his style. Like all of his students I wished there were recordings of the early John "Bebop" Carter. He was awesone. I'm still trying to sound like him fifty years later.
